This year will be the sixth year that the Challenge Cup has run. The main aim of the series always has been to promote & encourage fun & friendly competition between clubs running 1/10th scale On-Road electric powered cars. An additional benefit of the series is that it provides an opportunity for clubs & drivers to share knowledge & advice. All drivers benefit from the improvement in club standards & can then enjoy racing to a greater degree.

In 2009, there will only be a series of four rounds running for On-Road, mainly for 4wd touring cars with the Tamiya Mini as well. The host clubs for On-Road are Windsor, SMA, Castle Hill & Bathurst.

The Series:

The Challenge Cup is a two-pronged series - the Drivers' Championship and the Club Championship. The drivers' championship allows for competition between all drivers, as normal; while the club championship allows for one club to compete against another.

• Driver Championship

  All drivers are automatically entered into the drivers' championship; this will consist of four/five rounds, worst result to be dropped.

  Points are allocated each round as per finishing position with first in the 'A' getting 101 points, second getting 99, third getting 98 and so on until the lowest finishing driver in the lowest final. Top qualifier gets a two point bonus. Points from each round are added together with only the top three/results counting - dropping the worst result. Drivers that are not a member of a club will not be part of the pointscore.
  
  

• Club Championship

  All clubs are eligible to enter the Club Championship - not just the host clubs.

  All drivers that represent a club must be a financial member of that club. There are no limits on drivers who can enter for a club - however, only the top nine individual scores will be counted. A driver may run more than one class but only his/her best score will be counted. Points are allocated as per finishing position - same as driver pointscore - NB no TQ bonus included.

  Each club is to provide a list of drivers entered for each event - only those drivers will be included as part of the club results. This list should be given to the Challenge Cup Executive two weeks prior to the event - en excel file with first name & surname will suffice. No changes to this list can be made after the Thursday prior to the event.

  The Club Championship is over four (4) rounds; all rounds count toward the final total at the end of the year.
